My deepest condolences to the entire family. Charlie was a great guy, and the world is poorer with his leaving. My mom and I met Charlie a number of years ago when we joined a tour group for a cruise, and subsequently went on other cruises with him and Eloise. He was always great fun, and cared deeply about his family and friends. I know the last couple of years weren't easy ones, but I know he rests in heaven now. I guess he can have a tractor again instead of his scooter, and can do all the mowing he wants! All the best. Kathy Gaseor

Charlie will always be the smiling face behind the bass vile. No one could make me laugh as much as Charlie. Allen & I have often mentioned him in our conversations. What a beautiful family, the Fritzs. Miss them all. You are in our thoughts & prayers. Love, Allen & Elaine Cable

I feel so blessed to have been accepted as a family member by such a wonderful man a little more than 30 years ago. Charlie Jr assured me that I was (part of the family) from the moment at an event at Barb and Walt's when Charlie Sr made me think I had shut his fingers in the door of the van as he screamed when I closed the side door, as most of us have experienced from one time or another. I love you and will miss you forever.

One of the last Shirey family get together was at aunt thelmas and uncle charlies place in beaverton and we went tubeing on the river and uncle Charlie let us have a big bonfire. And he and my dad would smoke cigars around the campfire.

My own father having passed away, Charlie graciously offered to walk me down the aisle at my wedding, which he did. It's a treasured memory, along with many others during his 13 years as a loving companion to my mother. He added so much happiness to her life, my life, and our family. I will greatly miss his upbeat presence.

My favorite memories were of camping at their house in Beaverton. He helped me catch 2 catfish. He was very patient and taught me to be as well. We had campfires and canoed the river. It was so much fun, and I love how he'd tell us to do stupid stuff and laugh. He liked to pick on my Dad too. Those were the best of times. 
Another time, Mom and I had went to Uncle Charlie and Aunt Thelma's house, and our car was on fire when we got in their driveway. I don't remember the details, just that the car caught fire.
