Charlie is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of Lawton; his daughters, Sara Hollern, of Kalamazoo, Missy (Joe) Shepherd, of Galesburg and his grandson, Charlie; 8 sisters, 3 brothers and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Martin Hollern, of Lansing; his mother, Ruth Hollern, of Lansing; and his sister, Patty Grace, of Laingsburg.
Charlie was born on July 3, 1952, in Spangler, PA to parents Martin and Ruth Hollern. He graduated from Eastern High school in 1971.
In 1976, he accepted a position at GM, where he worked 19 years as a Paint Supervisor/Engineer.
Charlie was a great family man and a loving father/grandfather. He always wanted to make people laugh with his one liners and goofy jokes. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching his grandson play sports. He was a jack of all trades who could fix anything. He wanted to share his knowledge and teach others. His pride in ownership always showed in his well-maintained yard, home, and vehicles. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A visitation, funeral and luncheon are scheduled for September 11, 2021, at Tiffany Chapel in Lansing. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by services at 2 p.m. Charlie will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lansing, MI. His cousin, Michael Hollern, will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and share memories to celebrate Charlie’s life.
The family would like to thank the staff at Spectrum Health services for their kind care of Charlie during his journey home to Jesus.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring can make contributions to the Hollern Family to help offset medical expenses.
