

Claire Lynette Evans (Tury) (Miller) Claire has died from pancreatic cancer. Born April 20, 1952 in Lansing, MI to Mildred (Boehler) Evans and William Henry Evans, Jr. She graduated Sexton High School in 1970, and Michigan State University 1974. Master of Library Science from University of Maryland 1979, BA in International Agriculture from Eastern Mennonite College 1990. After that, she devoted herself to Peace and Justice initiatives. She was involved with the Catholic Worker movement for 7 years, then discovered her calling at Christian Peacemaker Teams. She worked in their Chicago office from 1998 on. She made trips to conflict zones including Palestine, Chiapas, Colombia, and Iraq. She found a church home at Chicago?s North Side Holy Trinity Lutheran. Recently she attended the South Side?s Trinity UCC as well. She leaves behind sisters, Sue (Bill) Wheeler (her twin), and Christine Miller; nieces, Zephyr Miller, Ruth and Jeanine Wheeler; nephews Dylan (Catherine) Miller, and Charles Miller. Aunt Virginia Wenstrom and Uncle Paul (Barbara) Boehler, and several cousins, also a host of friends who encouraged both Claire and Sue, during those last weeks in Chicago. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. with Services at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, February 11, in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing with Rev.
