Beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor, Sally Siebert was called home November 30th. Preceded in death by her parents (Richard and Lillian Miller) and husband (Dr. George W. Siebert), she is survived by her daughters, Cathy J. Siebert (Muncie, Indiana), Sue Ann Siebert (Grand Haven, Michigan); grandson, Sammi G. Siebert (Grand Haven, Michigan); sister-in-law, Mili Siebert (Lansing, Michigan); niece, Lynn Vosburgh (Lansing, Michigan); nephew, Mike Siebert; and cousins Therese Haley (Harrison, Michigan) and Ces Soyring (Harrison, Michigan).
After retiring from General Motors Parts Division, Sally lived a busy life filled with friends and family. She enjoyed traveling and visited seven countries including Nepal where she accompanied Sue Ann to bring her much-loved grandson, Sammi, home to our family. Bus trips with friends were another enjoyable activity especially the “mystery” trips. She loved playing cards, going to movies, spending time with her good friends, Mary, Marlo, and Trudy, at their summer cabins (playing cards and eating!) and her visits with Therese and Ces at the farm. She considered her monthly lunches with Sue and Nancy a special treat. Sally felt immeasurably blessed by the friendship and help she received from David, Don, and Mac.
A strong woman, Sally never let anything get her down. This was especially evident over the past several years when health issues challenged her. She never complained and never gave up. Much thanks to all the health care professionals at The Willows of Lansing and Sparrow Hospital who took such good care of her. Her family also extends heart-felt thanks to Dr. Zaroukian, her family physician, who was with her throughout the last days of her life and provided such compassionate support not only to Sally but to her daughters as well.
Sally was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lansing, Michigan and could often be found helping with soup and salad luncheons, garage sales, and funeral luncheons. Her faith was integral to her life, and we are comforted in knowing that she’s with her Lord and been reunited with loved ones in paradise.
There are simply no words for how much Sally will be missed by her family. Nothing will ever be the same—playing cards and laughing ourselves silly, celebrating life milestones at the Bavarian Inn, and sharing frequent meals at La Senorita to name just a few things. But we know she’ll be with us in spirit cheering and laughing with us.
Hunter S. Thompson has said that “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” Sally’s ride may have ended here on earth but we know her journey continues in heaven.
A funeral service will be held at noon for Sally on Tuesday December 4, 2018 at Gorsline Runciman, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI 48912, with a visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Capital Area Humane Society or the Dorcas Guild at St. Luke Lutheran Church.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.grlansing.com for the Siebert family.
