Crystal Mae Goodman

Crystal Mae Goodman, age 89, of Lansing, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. Crystal was born August 3, 1932. Crystal Mae Goodman, age 89, passed on to her eternal life on May 3, 2022, just 138 days after Roman, her beloved husband of 68 years. Crystal was born August 3, 1932 in Greenwood Township, Michigan, the daughter of Mable (Days) Ellison and Elgin Roberts. She is survived by her children David (Kris) Goodman, Bruce (Leisa) Goodman, Ann (Ross) Auburn, and Cara (Jeff) Meskill; grandchildren Jaccob Dean, Katie (Jon) Tam, Allison (Jojo Jimenez) Goodman, Ashleigh Meskill, and Samantha Meskill; great-grandsons Baron Dean, Jose Jimenez, and Julian Jimenez. Crystal grew up in Lansing, as well as Kingsley and Cadillac, and graduated from Lansing Eastern High. She went on to work at MSU as an executive secretary, then at Oldsmobile, where she met the love of her life, Roman Goodman. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, as well as an accomplished seamstress and quilter, who would always lend a helping hand to both friend and stranger alike. She was also a loving and dedicated caregiver to several late family members. Crystal spread sunshine everywhere she went. When she wasn't helping other people, you could find her at the casino enjoying the company of her best friends, spending time with her children and grandchildren, or preparing for the next holiday celebration or fun event in her life. Everyone who met her was touched by her shining and joyful light. She was a true matriarch and she loved that her home was the family gathering place for holidays and special occasions, which always included a marathon game of Scrabble. Crystal was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection in Lansing, where she and Roman were married on May 15, 1954. A devout Catholic, she was a member of the Altar Society, Rosary Circle, Quilting Club, and an active participant in the annual church rummage sale, card parties, Ox Roast, and other church activities. The Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, May 17th at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour before, both at the Church of the Resurrection, 1531 E. Michigan Ave, Lansing, with the Rev. Steve Mattson officiating. Rite of Committal immediately after the Mass at St Joseph Cemetery in Lansing, with a luncheon following back at the Church. Contributions may be made to the Church of the Resurrection. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel.
