

David Norman "Dave" Blumenau, aged 97, passed away on October 22, 2024 in East Lansing, Michigan. Born on October 10, 1927 in Bay City, Michigan, Dave was a cherished family man and a respected businessman.
David served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a postal worker stationed in Florence, Italy from February 1946 until April 1947. His commitment to his country was a significant chapter in his life.
Professionally, David was the co-owner and operator of Bay City Milling and Grocer Co., a family business that thrived under his leadership for over 40 years. His astute business acumen and enduring work ethic were evident in the company's success and longevity.
David was deeply rooted in his community, being a proud member of the Valley of Bay City Masonic Lodge and a Life Member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite N.M.J., USA. His faith was important to him, as he was an active member of Temple Israel in Bay City.
His personal life was filled with joy from various hobbies, including golf and tennis. David cherished the time spent with his family and had a notable love for ice cream, a simple pleasure that brought him immense happiness.
David is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Eileen Frances Blumenau, their children, Joel Blumenau (Laura), Susan Blumenau Winer (Bob), and Mark Blumenau, as well as his grandchildren, Matthew Elleck Winer, Helena Blumenau, and Sydnie Blumenau. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates contributions to McLaren Hospice, who provided exceptional care to David in his final days. The family extends special thanks to Ryan from the hospice for his dedication and compassion.
David's legacy of love, friendship, and community involvement will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to the values he upheld, and his memory will continue to inspire those who were part of his journey.
