Born on April 4, 1949, in Lansing, Michigan, he was the son of Neva and Peter Zdybel. A lifelong resident of the area, David developed an early and enduring love for golf and music—two passions that he carried with him through his entire life and shared generously with everyone around him.
David was deeply adored by his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Calvin Jon Zdybel and Chloe Lane Zdybel (husband Greg Kohler); his grandchildren, Griffin and Hayden Kohler; his siblings, Jon Zdybel, Paul Zdybel, and Laura Zdybel; many beloved nieces and nephews; and countless friends all across the world.
Whether he was out on the golf course or performing with one of his bands, David lived life to the fullest. Throughout his 77 years, he was widely known for the humor and enthusiasm he brought wherever he was. David could always get the party started and made sure everyone around him was having a great time. His warmth, energy, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3rd with a visitation from 1-2pm followed by a reception /memorial ceremony beginning at 2pm at Gorsline - Runciman Funeral Home Tiffany Chapel, 3232 W Saginaw St, Lansing, MI 48917. There will be an opportunity during the ceremony for anyone who would like to speak or share a favorite story about Benny—and please feel free to bring an instrument if you'd like to play or sing a song.
In lieu of flowers, the family would love to see David honored by you purchasing a ticket to a concert, playing a round of golf, or placing a bet down on the Derby.
