She was born on September 21, 1945, in Monroe, Wisconsin, to Roy and Ada Speich. She was the youngest of four daughters. She was preceded in death by her sisters Marianne and Lois, and is survived by her sister Letta.
She grew up in Monroe, where she later met her husband, Larry Wuetrich. In 1972, they moved to Lansing, Michigan and were married in 1974. They recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.
Deena and Larry raised four daughters: Kelly Wuetrich, Robyne Wuetrich, Carey Wagamon (Dylan), and Jessi Zweering. She was a devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren: Kaitlyn Wuetrich, Cameron Parenteau, Xavier Zweering, Lawson Zweering, Reese Wagamon, Hudsyn Wagamon, and Ellie Wagamon.
She attended the University of Wisconsin—La Crosse, earning a degree in Cytology, and worked in a laboratory before devoting much of her life to her family as a homemaker. An avid reader, she loved collecting old books and later volunteered at the library, a place that reflected her curiosity and love of learning. She was deeply social and cherished her friendships, faithfully meeting friends each week and staying connected to her community. She enjoyed golfing with her husband and staying active with the people she loved.
Deena lived with conviction and loved her family fiercely. Her faith shaped her values and guided how she showed up for the people she cared about. Even when illness limited her physically, her love, attention, and presence never wavered.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Huntington’s Disease Society of America (hdsa.org) in memory of Deena Wuetrich.
