Dick "Gomer" Garner

Dick “Gomer” Garner, 80, of Lansing, MI died Aug. 28, 2016. He was born in Lansing on April 4, 1936 to Harold and Lucile Garner. Dick proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy. He worked for Fisher Body for 37 years, retiring in 1991. Dick loved the outdoors, especially being in the woods or at the cabin. He was a motorcycle enthusiast. He also talked a lot about the good old days in the 50’s, how much fun they were, and wished they would return.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Donna and Joyce. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Jane; sons, Michael (Cathy) Garner, Kent Garner; stepson, Scot Sharp; grandchildren, Patrick (Macie) Garner, Sydney Sharp; and the mother of his sons, Nancy L. Garner.

A funeral service will be held Aug. 31, 2016 at noon at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, with Mr. Garey Bullock officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am until noon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Stoneleigh Residence, c/o Hospice of Lansing, 4052 Legacy Parkway, Ste. 200, Lansing, MI 48912.
