Don was a WW ll veteran. He served in the army in New Guinea and Australia from 1943 to 1947.
Don was a life member of VFW post 701.
After leaving the army he worked several jobs but his main job was truck driving, hauling cars for Howard Sober, C&J Driveaway and Leaseway Transportation retiring after 45 years.
He volunteered for the Boy Scouts for 21 years as a caretaker at Camp Kawnas of Mason, Michigan
He was proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Lorene Maccardini; and son, Steven Bommer.
Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Carol; three daughters; Althea Ritter, Sandra Bommer and Donna Bommer. Two sons, Eric Bommer and Michael Bommer. Three stepchildren Michael Ray, Toni Wilson and Clarissa Ross. He also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren and two nieces to cherish his memory.
The family would like to thank Medilodge and McLaren hospice for taking such great care of Don.

Funeral Service will be June 10, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Arrangements under the direction of Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing, MI.
