Don passed away on January 9, 2025 at the age of 91 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. Don was born in Lansing, Michigan to Richard and Ruby Morgan. After graduating from Eastern High School in 1953, he served in the Army from 1954 - 1956 and was stationed in Paris, France.
He worked for Mississippi Valley Structured Steel as a Welder and Fitter for 27 years. When they went out of business, he became a stay-at-home Dad, along with owning stamp machines at MSU dorms for over 18 years and working for Meridian Township as a crossing guard for Haslett and Okemos Schools for 32 years.
Don lived in Lansing until he married Janet (Somes) in 1976, when he moved to Haslett, where they lived until 2021 when they moved back to Lansing to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren.
He is survived by Jan; son, Todd; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and David Schupbach; brother, Robert; grandchildren, Katie, Nate, Ayden and Ruby Schupbach, brothers-in-law, Ken (Bonnie) Somes, Thom (Cindy) Somes; sister-in-law, Lorraine Somes; and many nieces and nephews.
Don enjoyed golfing, spending time with his dogs, especially Wally and Benji, and doing many improvements around the house. The family would like to thank Michigan Community VNA Hospice as their support and kindness was greatly appreciated during the past few months.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Glenn; in-laws, Fred Somes Sr, Lois Somes; brother-in-law Fred Somes Jr; his many close friends, especially Tom Merrifield and Neil Harmon; and most of his golfing buddies.
