Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Tony Castillo, sisters; Kathleen Rios, Cora Freeze, and Mary Lou Rodriguez, brothers; Raymond and Edward Sierra.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Diana Castillo; brother, Pete (Elena) Silva; sister, Helen Castillo; and three special "grand" children who were very dear to her, Edgar, Adriana and Diego, who loved to be with her and call her grandma.
Doris loved crocheting, cooking, and going on outdoor adventures with her beloved Tony. Doris was an avid collector of clowns and dolls.
She had a kind and gentle spirit. Doris loved children dearly, and was always looking forward to opportunities to extend her love and friendship to every child she would meet.
Doris cooked many meals in her home and entertained many ministers throughout the years. She will be deeply missed by all of those who were privileged to come to her home.
Doris was a faithful and loyal member of Apostolic Bible Church in Lansing, Michigan. She will be remembered by her untold sacrifices that she made, including many hours of making and selling peanut brittle, reaching young people, worshiping in her own quiet way with all of her heart at every service, and her unfailing encouragement to the ministry.
Doris spent many years assisting with the distribution of the Michigan District News for the Michigan District UPCI.
Doris spent her last 6 months at Divine Nest Assisted Living in Leslie, Michigan. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Divine Nest staff and Great Lakes Hospice for the excellent care that they gave her.
