Dorothy M. Wade, 96, died peacefully at home on Monday, November 24, 2014. She was born March 12, 1918 in Shelby, MI. She was raised by her parents Donald and Marian Kibbe. Dorothy grew up in Muskegon and married Hal C. Wade in 1938. They had two children; Hal C. Wade Jr. and Cheryl (Wade) Crumpley. She was a homemaker and very active in her church and community. Dorothy served as an elder and deacon at North Presbyterian church and was very active in her church since 1956. She did much volunteer work and was active in the North Lansing Community Association. She was the recipient of the “Nestle Award” in 1993 for community service. Dorothy worked elections for over 20 years. She was loved by many and had a wonderful sense of humor to go with her steadfast faith in God. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her husband Hal C. Wade Sr. in 1974 and daughter Cheryl Crumpley. She is survived by her son Hal (Sue) Wade Jr.; four grandchildren Todd Danby, Nina Knight, Amy Harms, and Paul Wade; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; son-in-law Jon Crumpley; sister-in-law Nancy Wade. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2014 at North Westminster Presbyterian, 743 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., Lansing, MI 48915 officiated by Rev. Timothy Chon. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Private interment will take place at Hesperia West Cemetery in Hesperia Michigan.
