Earl was a great Spartan that we could all be proud of. He joined many booster clubs and was available to help on committees whenever he could. He enjoyed attending the MSU golf outings every year. He liked to have a good time. I shall miss his contagious smile!

Dear Jan and family , today I discovered of Earl's passing . I would have come to his funeral but I guess it wasn't ment to be . I do hope to see you Jan . It was true gift for me to have had the opportunity to serve Earl and meet your family . Your nurses training your love and compassion as wife and love of Earls life, gave him the best of all advocates one could ever desire to have . May our Lord comfort you in knowing this. I am so sorry I missed seeing the notice in the paper.

Jan, my deepest sympathies to you and the boys! I was shocked to learn of Earl's passing and wished that I could attend his service to convey my sympathies to you directly.

Earl is the reason that I first landed on the Downtown Coaches Club Board of Directors as he appointed me to fill a vacancy during the year he served the Club as president. We shared may many good times, cigars, jokes & adult beverages over the years either during Spartan Football tailgating, or talking about Spartan Football!

It was an honor to know Earl. I only knew him from his time at the Dimondale Center and I never saw him have a bad day. I never heard him complain about his condition he just did his best with the hand he was dealt. I know that he was a religious man and believed in God and today I'm sure he is seeing him face to face. He always had respect for the Eucharist; when I would come in the room on Sundays he would always either turn the TV off or mute it so we could have some quality time in worship. After worship we would have to talk about how those Spartans were doing in whatever sport season they were in. I know he had green flowing through his veins. I will miss our Sunday time together---RIP Earl.

Jan, Jason, Chad, Matt and families. I was very sorry to read about Earls passing. I have fond memories of your family from our days in the IHM/St. Casmir sports program. Earl was always very supportive and positive. He spent a lot of time helping out with various fund raising efforts including the golf tournament. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I have known Earl since 1967when he bowled at Holiday Lanes, bartended there and Art's Bar. He was good bowler & golfer. Great jokes. He will be sorely missed. RIP Earl..

I didn't know Earl well but him and his wife were always nice to me, my son Dave and the grandchildren. Dave, I am sure will miss their competition for their sports teams and who could get more tanned during the summer. Thanks Earl.

All my prayers go out to Janis and the Stevens family. Earl will be greatly missed. His love of family, friends, golf, cigars, and MSU made him a gem to be around. We all took at least one of his jokes and told it the next day. "did you hear this one" he repeated a dozen times. Guaranteed his corner of heaven doesn't have a wolverine anywhere around.

The Earl I met and knew was brave, proud of his heritage, loved MSU, had a terrific sense of humor and was kind. An all around great guy that I had the pleasure of knowing, he always had a smile for us.

I was saddened to read of Earl's passing. I knew Earl a long time, and I never saw him without a smile on his face. He was an avid sports card collector, and more than once I'd deliver an unopened box of cards to Earl at our Downtown Coaches Club luncheon. In fact, the last time that I saw Earl was at a luncheon this past Fall. Heaven is a little brighter today with that big smile! My thoughts and prayers are with the Stevens family this week.

I am so sad that I have lost a friend that I could talk to about my family, especially when I went through rough times with my son and husband and the days I couldn't wait to get to work and talk about a recent MSU game or just to talk to you because you were a great guy. It was great knowing you Earl (and Janis also) I know you are now looking over me and my family like you said you would. I just wish I could of said bye to you. You are in a better place now with no pain and suffering and I will always cherish our conversations and laughs we had while you were at Dimondale. Take care Earl and I will miss you. Earl and I meet through my son Gary. Although I went to Everett High School and knew Janice and Earl from school. Not knowing years later my son and Earl would meet in the future and become friends. I am so sorry for your lost and he will be missed.
