Age 72, our loving wife, mother, grandmother ?Mimi? went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2011 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born March 20, 1938 in Ann Arbor, MI. Eileen was one of the program founders, teacher, and administrator of the Dental Assistant Program at Lansing Community College until her retirement in 2003 with over 30 years of service to the dental profession at L.C.C. She was member of St. Gerard Catholic Church for over 30 years. She enjoyed quilting and scrap booking, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband of 29 years, Harlan E. Dean; 2 children, Ward (Shelly) Meldrum, and Laura (Bryan) Rogers; 3 step-children, Lawrence (Nancy) Dean, James (Kay) Dean, and Debra (Terry) Starks; 4 grandchildren, Brendan and Conor Meldrum, and Matthew and Maeve Rogers ; 7 step-grandchildren, Brian, Jessica, Michaela, and Alicia Dean, and Sarah, Landon, and Austin Starks; sisters, Gerry (Robert) Mack, and Kevileen (John) Stirling; 2 brothers, A.C. Murphy, and William Murphy; sister-in-law, Kathryn Murphy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Liam John & Ellen (Grehan) Murphy, and her brother, John Michael.
Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday with the Rosary being prayed at 8:00 P.M. in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 9th, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing. Rite of committal St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to U of M Comprehensive Cancer Center, or the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center of Houston, TX or Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.
