Haslett, MI Formerly of Lansing
Born November 10, 1923 in Port Huron, MI, the daughter of the late Edgar and Eleanor (Teeple) Howison, passed away April 29, 2012 at the age of 88. She lived in Lansing and Haslett over the last 64 years. She was a homemaker and excellent cook along with working as the secretary for her brother-in-law Dr. RG Curtiss. Her heart was for her church, Central Free Methodist in Lansing. At Central she was church secretary, junior and senior choir directors, soloist, leader of the CYC (elem. youth program) and leader of the women’s missionary society. She enjoyed sports, continuing to play softball until age 52. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Alfred Finch; sons, Jim (Phylliss) and Greg; granddaughter, Tami (Frank) Nicholson; great grandson, Julian; grandsons, Jimmy, Eli and Seth Finch; sister, Esther Gilroy; brother, Larry (Laverne) Howison; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Don (Martha) Schairer; sister-in-law, Lois Thompson. She was especially appreciative of her friend and caregiver Mary Linton. The semi-annual Howison reunion was one of her favorite projects, because of the love she had for her extended family. Auntie Eleanor was a second “Mom” to her many nieces and nephews and was concerned about each one of them. Grace was not only her middle name but her way of life. She is planning the next family reunion in heaven now with sisters, Oleta and Irma and brother Edgar and is surely organizing the Howison family choir for performances. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Central Free Methodist Church, 820 N. Washington Ave., Lansing, MI 48906 with the Rev. Douglas Bradshaw officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing and one hour prior to the service at the church. Those desiring may make contribution to Central Free Methodist Church, c/o Child Care Ministry, 820 N.
