

Eleanor (Goerner) Perkins, age 90, passed away peacefully with her son and daughter at her side on June 26, 2013, at Ingham Regional Assisted Living in Lansing. Eleanor was born on January 23, 1923, in Howard City, MI. After high school, she moved to Grand Rapids where she met Otis Perkins, the love of her life. In 1946, they were married in Las Vegas while on vacation with his mother and grandfather. Eleanor worked for Delhi Township for 14 years and served as the deputy clerk and deputy treasurer until her retirement in 1989. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Minnie Goerner; her brother, Clarence (Bill); nephew, Jim; and her husband, Otis. Eleanor is survived by her two children, David (Kathy) Perkins and Linda (Jeffrey) Cwiek; and her five grandchildren, Jeffrey Perkins, Stacie Perkins, Jennifer Lappetito, Tyler Cwiek, and Jessica Cwiek. Eleanor was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a strong faith and a great love for her Lord. Through her faith, she had a wonderful gift of being able to find the good in any situation, which was an inspiration to those who knew her. In addition to her faith and her family, Eleanor loved spending time with her friends, playing cards, golfing, and bowling. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Eleanor’s life at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church of Holt, 2021 N. Aurelius Rd., Holt, MI 48842. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Holt at the above address or to McLaren Hospice, 2316 S.
