

Lansing
Age 85, died Tuesday morning, August 10. Elizabeth was born October 27, 1924, in Gwinn, Michigan, where she grew up as the youngest of seven brothers and sisters. In 1945, she married her high school sweetheart, Floyd Erickson, after his service in the Tenth Mountain Division in World War II. They would have celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary on August 22. The couple moved to Lansing, where they raised their daughter, Leesa, born in 1956. Early in her career Elizabeth served as secretary to two superintendants of the Lansing School District; then she worked for many years at WKAR at Michigan State University. She and her husband were among the founding members of Lansing’s Grace United Methodist Church. As a devoted and joyous member of the church community, she sang in the choir for 58 years and served as church librarian, music librarian, and church historian. Her life was full with the love of friends and family, especially her two beloved granddaughters and her large extended family based in Gwinn.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Floyd; her daughter and son-in-law, Leesa and James Tobin of Ann Arbor; and her granddaughters, Elizabeth Keller and Claire Tobin of Ann Arbor. Funeral services will be held Friday August 13, 2010, 11 a.m., at Grace United Methodist Church, 1900 Boston Blvd., Lansing, with Pastor Jane Ellen Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing and 1 hour prior at the church.
