Elizabeth G. Musselman

Battle Creek, formerly of Lansing, Michigan

Age 93, passed away September 5, 2014 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice in Battle Creek. She was born in Bel Aire, Maryland on January 16, 1921 to Thomas and Flora Swogger. She married the late Melvin H. “Hub” Musselman and resided in Lansing. Betty worked as a program analyst for the state of Michigan for many years. She was an active member of the Lansing Optimist and Kiwanis Club, and a dedicated volunteer for the McRee Guest House. Following the death of her husband in 1993, she continued to live in Lansing until 2005 when she moved to Battle Creek to be closer to family. She always treasured her grandchildren and was delighted by her great grandchildren and all their activities. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and doing various craft projects. She adored her cat, KC, and loved cheering on the MSU Spartans and Detroit Tigers. Betty is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Jim) Connor, Carol (Sam) Brannan; grandchildren, Timothy (Michele) Brannan, Lisa Brannan, Kelly (Nick) McLaren, Cathy Connor, Shannon (Jeremy) Roberson; 10 great grandchildren, Katelyn, Jordan, Josh, Austin, Megan, D.J., Camden, Griffin, Charlie, and Maggie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; daughter, Mary Fishbeck; brother, Richard Swogger; and sister, Mary Swogger. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI the Rev. Dr. Rodney Kalajainen officiating. Interment will follow at North Cemetery, Lansing, MI. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the Funeral Service. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice, 5470 Glen Cross Rd., Battle Creek, MI 49015.
