Emery Thomas "Tom" Chaffee

Emery Thomas "Tom" Chaffee, age 75, of Lansing, Michigan passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. Tom was most lovingly known as "Papa" to those closest to him. He was a funny and caring man who enjoyed spending time with family, baking sweet treats, fishing and going on long walks. Tom retired from General Motors after 40 years, allowing him to spend his time growing close to his grandchildren and family. He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Christal Vliek; his grandchildren, William (My Buddy), Tyler (My Boy), Brianna (Papa's Angel), and Mikayla (My Sweetie Pie); his sister, Kathy Ettinger and family; and special caretakers and friends Tami Tobias, William Marshall Cooper, and Virginia Herbst. He was preceded in death by his parents Emery and Helen Chaffee; his ex-wife, Sue Chaffee; and his siblings, Harry, Vicki, Henry and Clyde.

A visitation for Tom will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912.
