Life has a beginning and end. This is common knowledge. Those two dates pale in comparison to the dash that falls in between. So, let’s begin at the beginning. On Thursday the 16th day of August in 1951, God saw fit to let one of his angels come to Earth. On this date Evelynn Claire Herrington was born. In life Evelynn attended Everett Elementary, Then went to Walter French for a year before moving to Dell Rd in Holt, MI where she finished her education at Holt High School class of 1969.

Upon graduating her education in a traditional sense ended, but life began to teach her new lessons. In February 1970 she married Doug Burns, They had two sons and a semi adopted daughter. In 1988 she was single again, but only for a short while until she met the absolute love of her life Rex Franklin and with him 3 more daughters. They married 4 June 1994; she finally got that “Pink Ticket”.

In life Evelyn was no nonsense, no holds barred in every aspect of life. She said what she meant and meant what she said. She was a fierce fighter for what she believed to be right. She loved to sing, tell jokes, her sense of humor had no bounds or boundaries for that matter, watch movies especially The Wizard of Oz and Old suspense thrillers. She was an avid collector of dolls and just about anything that would go with them and just about anything Disney. She loved spending time with family and friends and the lights of her life, all 16 Grand babies and Great Grandson, baking and bowling in her younger years.

Evelynn had many jobs, most around people whether it be cleaning rooms at Ramada Inn, Car Hop at A&W, Gas Station Cashier or a Waitress and Teacher of life. But her favorite jobs of all was being a Wife and Mother to all the kids - even some that weren't blood.

Evelynn passed 16th day of November 2020. She is preceded in death by Her Mother Velma “Lucille” (Lobdell), Father Lyle F. Herrington, Brother James “Jim” Irvin and Mother-in-Law Beatrice Franklin. She is Survived by her Husband and guiding light Rex L. Franklin, Sons Corey A. ( Melissa) and Richard J. (Lisa) Burns Daughters M. Annette (Burns) Morris, E. Marie Franklin, Angela K. Franklin, Debra (Todd) Placer, adopted Daughter Corrine Fullerton. 16 Grandchildren, One Great Grandson, many Nieces, Nephews, too many friends to list and her Boyfriend as she liked to call him Mark Bancroft.

I always forward to seeing Evelynn at the class reunions it will not be the same without her. Those HS days when she was the guardian of all she was a force to be reckoned with and it was the same through her adult life if Evelynn was your friend you had a loyal friend for life, I envision her laughing and talking with Betty and Terrill having a great time. My heart goes out to her family I can't even imagine the pain but oh the memories she left us all what a gift, a great person and I am proud to have known her. Love to all of you Rosie

Evelynn was a force of nature! She was loving and caring to those she loved and fiercely loyal and protective of them! She lived for her family and loved them all so much. To me she was not only one of my best friends, my cousin and my sister. She kept me sane and loved me when I was going through a hard time in my life and she kept that going the rest of my life. I could call her and know she would tell me the truth no holds barred. I loved her and will always love her. I will miss that anchor, her live, her laugh, her loyalty and her friendship! RIP my dear sweet sister/ kindred spirit! Your with me forever in my heart and your voice and wisdom will forever be in my mind. I send my love, my prayers and my heart to Rex and her amazing family! I LOVE YOU ALL!

I have known Evelyn for many years and had many crazy trips all around Michigan, and even down here in Tennessee where Tammy and I live, there was a time that Tammy had to go back to Michigan for work and they welcomed her into their home, heck she even let Rex have a southern wife, which is just a inside joke between us alI. (And you can bet that Evelyn made sure they got a divorce before she moved back to Tennessee) I was their bridesmaid at her wedding to Rex Franklin, they were the best for each other, when they talk about the ring being a circle, that was Rex and Evelyn, but because she has left that just means the path is being cleaned and so life goes on with great times and memories. Evelyn Tammy, Gracie and I loved being your friend and in your big family circle you will forever be in our hearts and on our minds. I love you my friend....

Rex and Evelyn have been great neighbors. Very generous! I remember her calling with extras from the garden... And checking on me when my daughter was sick. I will miss her greatly.

Ahhh Evelyn so many that come to mind. We hit it off as soon as you moved to Dell Ridge and we became neighbors. You always looked out for me and had my back. We lost touch after I moved. Then almost 40 years later we reconnected on Facebook. I'll never forget one night after that reconnection you called and we talked and talked and talked. RIP my friend. You will be greatly missed.

Well Evie as she was to me, when we met we hit it right off. We didn't get to spend a lot of time together but went twice for their family Christmas and welcomed right in. Also a few bus rides to zoos and other places. I see why her family loved her so much, because she loved back and welcomed non-blood people to share in her family life. She will be missed so much but I Know she will Always watch over her whole Family whether blood or not .
Love you Evie
