Floyd Douglas “Bubby” Eaton Sr., passed away on November 22, 2014 at the age of 84. He was born on May 6, 1930 to George and Fannie (Mask) Eaton. He was a lifelong resident of the Lansing area. He was married to Myrtis Powe Smith and later was married to Lola Veronna Miller for over 49 years. Bubby retired from the City of Lansing with over 30 years of service.
He was a lifelong member of Trinity A.M.E. Church where he was a Trustee, a member of the Men’s and Senior Choir and was involved with the Earl Nelson Singers. He had many joys in life including family, fishing, cooking, studying history and current events. Floyd was a three time State wrestling champ at Sexton High School and won the Mr. Michigan body building contest at the age of 39.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife L. Veronna, daughter, Lisa, sister, Beverly and brothers Jack and George. He leaves to celebrate his life, sisters Ruth Eaton, Betty Eaton, son Mujahid (Eleanor) Abdul-Hameed, April (Kirk) Branson, David (DeAndre), Kevin (Lisa) and Angela (Marvis) Walker; 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity A.M.E. Church, 3500 W. Holmes Rd., with family visitation one hour before the service at 11:00 a.m. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home Lansing Chapel.
