Lansing
Gale passed away peacefully in his home on October 9th, 2014, after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was next to his loving wife of 32 years, Joni. Gale, a 63 year old Lansing resident, is survived by his wife and 3 children, Shannon and family, Robert and family, and A. Jay. Gale is also survived by his brother Greg, his sister Robin, and his mother Marjorie, along with 4 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Gale was predeceased by his father, Charlie and infant daughter, Sarah Ann.
Born on December 12th, 1950, to Marjorie and Charles Holmgren, Gale was a dedicated worker, loving father, and devoted husband. After retiring from his career in the Lansing Public School District, he spent his time fixing motorcycles, developing a green thumb, and enjoying the company of many friends and family members. Gale loved the Michigan summers, and enjoyed spending time outside working in the yard, riding his Harley or playing with the family dog.
Gale married Joni Holmgren (nee Davison) on October 9th, 1982. After 32 wonderful years of love, admiration, and marriage, Gale knew Joni had trouble remembering dates. Deciding, as always, to do everything he could for her, Gale passed away on the morning of their anniversary, ensuring she only had to remember that one date as his final gift.
Gale Holmgren was an amazing father, husband, and friend. It seemed as though he got better with age, becoming more fun and loving with each passing month. He will be remembered and missed by his family and friends.
Per Gale's request there will be no formal funeral service. Memorial services will be at 2: 00 TO 4:00 p.m. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2014 AT COACH'S PUB & GRILL (GROVENBURG ROAD AT MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD.)
