

Gary O. Hoke, 63, of Lansing, beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born August 24, 1950 in Lansing and attended Lansing schools, graduating from Eastern High School, Class of 1969. Gary was the lead driver for the Michigan Company (MICHCO) for 35 years, retiring in July 2012. He played lead guitar for several years with many bands but especially enjoyed playing with the family band on holiday weekends at Chippewa Lake. He enjoyed television, summers at the cottage, and gatherings with family and friends. He was a loyal Wolverine and Detroit Tigers fan. He is survived by his parents, Ernest and Marilyn Hoke; wife, Lenaye; son, Kyle (fiancée, Chloe Ketchum); sisters, Teri Roache (Manu) and Darla Conley (Doug); as well as Lenaye's family, plus a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary was preceded in death by younger brother, Randy Hoke (1969); grandparents, Ernest and Sylvia Hoke and Ormond and Lois Peets; and his beloved little pug, Reina.
A memorial and celebration of Gary's life will be held at Colonial Village Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 1pm with Pastor H. Randolph Morgan officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to services.
