George Charles Convis

George Charles Convis, 82, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather left this earth to join his beloved wife of 55 years on July 27, 2016. He was born in Ingham County May 28, 1934 to Ida and Claude Convis. George was a lifelong MSU Spartan fan and also enjoyed fishing and gardening, he took great pride in the fruit (or veggies) of his labor. He also loved his dog Abby who was his constant companion for the last 14 years.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary, parents , sisters Betty, Eudora and Una , and is survived by two sisters Jenny Frever and Ula (Bill) Lenz, son Dennis Convis, daughter Susan (Kyle) Kelly, granddaughters Jessica Minor, Erin Kelly, Bre’anin Ballard and grandsons Joshua Convis, Justin Kelly, Corey Kelly and 10 great grandchildren. He was well known for his sense of humor, generous nature and kindness and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held Wednesday August 3, 2016 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 East Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI 48912 from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s name to the American Cancer Society, 1755 Abbey Road, East Lansing, MI 48823 or the Capital Area Humane Society, 5919 S. Cedar St, Lansing, MI 48911.
