Passed away on May 17, 2013 at the age of 76 after a long battle with Parkinson's and Diabetes. Dick was born on May 25, 1936 in Niles, Michigan to the late Jesse and Maude Lucas. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Craw. Dick graduated from Niles High School in 1954. After high school he joined the US Navy. He retired from General Motors in Lansing, MI. He also had his own business preparing taxes for over 20 years. He enjoyed church, playing cards, and square dancing with "Foxy Squares." Camping and scouting with his sons were other favorites. His hobbies were woodworking and working with stained glass.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Eloise Lavina Lucas (Runyan). Also surviving are his sisters: Doris (Cliff) Thomas, Shirley Daly, and his children: Emily (Robert) Luoma, Michael (Debbie) Lucas, and Franklyn (Krista) Lucas; grandchildren: Jessica Luoma, Rob (Brittney) Luoma, Steve (Amie) Lucas, Dave (Ashley) Lucas, Ryan Lucas, Damian Lucas and Audrey Lucas. Brother-in-law Sam Craw and many nieces and nephews also survive to cherish his memory. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19 from 2-5 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Avenue, Lansing. Services will be held on Monday, May 20 at 1:00 p.m. at Maranatha Baptist Church, 2300 N. Waverly Rd., Lansing, MI 48906.
