Gladys D. Hillman

Gladys Dora Hillman was born the first child to George and Louise Hillman on April 2, 1916. She died on October 5, 2015. She lived her entire 99 years in Lansing, Michigan, attended Resurrection grade school through the 9th grade and graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1934. Gladys worked at Oldsmobile and the State of Michigan retiring in 1975. She travelled extensively, both in Europe and the U.S. In her retirement years she continued to enjoy travel, nature, golfing, church activities, playing violin and spending time with friends and relatives. She was a lifetime member of the Church of the Resurrection in Lansing, Michigan and a member of the choir for over 25 years. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 20 years. She was a member and past president of the Lansing Catholic Business Women since 1953.

Gladys was pre-deceased by her parents and siblings, Gordon Hillman (Stella) and Alice Hillman Donley (Robert), one nephew, Robert Donley. She is survived by several loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was so proud of her many friends over the years, especially Mary Hill, Francine Bushrey and Romy Garcia. Our Aunt Gladys lived a long and full life. She never forgot a birthday and will be remembered as the official photographer at many family gatherings. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Church of the Resurrection, 1505 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing with Rev. Steve Mattson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Following the Mass will be a Graveside Service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 2520 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing, 48917. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gladys Hillman can be made to the Church of the Resurrection at the above address or Tri County Office on Aging/Meals on Wheels, 5303 S.
