Born and raised in the Capital City of Lansing, Michigan, Teddy proudly called Lansing home his entire life. He was more than a lifelong resident; he was a familiar face, a friend to many, and a true Lansing legend.
His greatest pride and joy was his wife, Susan, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they were a special couple whose love and partnership were admired by those around them.
Teddy shared a special bond with his son Tommy and cherished his grandchildren Andres, Jordan, Kiah, and TJ, as well as his great-granddaughter, Ymir. His family meant everything to him, and he took great pride in the relationships he built with each of them.
Sports were a lifelong passion for Teddy. Growing up, he loved playing baseball, his favorite sport. His love for athletics continued throughout his life, especially his devotion to Michigan State Spartan sports and all Detroit professional sports teams. Cheering for these teams was a family tradition. Watching a game with Teddy was an experience all its own. His passion, enthusiasm, and loyalty to his teams were unmatched. You always knew where Teddy stood when it came to his teams!
Teddy grew up in the automotive body business alongside his father and brothers, working at his father's shop, Lansing Auto Body, where he learned the art of automotive painting. After several years, he decided to venture out on his own and proudly owned and operated his own body shop for 27 years before eventually stepping down. His hard work, craftsmanship, and dedication were a reflection of the man he was.
Beyond the automotive business, Teddy was a phenomenal house painter who took pride in his work. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, creating unique landscaping, and collecting primitive furniture and crafts. He had an appreciation for things with character and history, much like himself.
Teddy loved Lansing, and Lansing loved Teddy. He was well known throughout the community and was always someone people looked forward to seeing. Whether sharing a story, talking sports, or simply visiting with friends, Teddy had a way of making his presence known. He was a man full of pride, personality, and passion for the people and things he loved.
Above all, Teddy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, friendships, laughter, and a legacy that will continue through the people whose lives he touched.
Teddy was truly one of a kind. He wasn't just a man who lived in Lansing; he was part of what made Lansing special. Teddy, you will never be forgotten.
You will always be loved, always remembered, and forever a Lansing legend. We love you, Teddy. Rest easy.
Teddy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Susan Bucks; son Thomas Bucks; grandchildren: Andres, Jordan, Kiah and TJ; and great-granddaughter Ymir; brother Mike Bucks; and sister Pat Bucks. He was preceded in death by his oldest son Brian Bucks; his brothers: Gary and Jim; and his sister Judy.
