Helen Marie Simons

Helen Marie Simons, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend age 96, of Lansing, Michigan passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022. Helen was born March 6, 1926, in Eagle, MI to Homer and Mary (Dunsmore) Paine.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Mary; daughter, Janice Simons; son, Donald Simons; great granddaughter, Serenity Allen; husband, Dale Erwin Simons and son-in-law, Jerry Droste.

Helen’s family was her pride and joy. Her grandchildren and great children held the key to her heart. Helen loved spending as much time as she could with family, whether it be playing cribbage, watching the grandkids play or hosting a family BBQ. She showed her love to all through her cooking and baking.

Helen was a giver. She loved to help people. Helen served as a foster grandparent for local elementary schools, she was also a senior companion and crossing guard.

The greatest game of all time, in Helen’s eyes, was BINGO. She played every chance she got; she would even go all over the Lansing area to play. She just loved the game. Helen especially loved to win.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Rick (Roxie) Simons, Kevin Simons, Edward Simons; daughters, Sharon (Steve) LaLone, Annette Droste, Nancy (Ron) Croope, Andrea (Dave) Johnson; 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; sister, Doris Gallaway, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation for Helen will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM, until time of service at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912.

A graveside service will occur Thursday, June 16, 2022, 12:15 PM at East Lawn Memory Gardens, 2400 Bennett Rd, Okemos, MI 48864.
