It was an honor being friends with Kevin over the years. I'll never forget sharing stories with him over lunch at the Kentwood Rotary Club meetings and happy hour social events with Julie at his side. Never to be forgotten, I'll always remember his kind heart and pleasant good nature. God bless.

I am so blessed to have met and gotten to know Kevin, and then his wife, Julie through Rotary. Kevin was just such a good decent, kind, and witty man. I throughly enjoyed our Michigan State vs Michigan Football rivalries and our watch parties were legend. I especially enjoyed the White Elephant exchanges at our Rotary Christmas parties I will never forget Kevin’s reaction to one gift in particular. It was priceless. I was saddened to hear of his passing. He will be so very missed , but never forgotten. He made people better for having known him. Julie. you and the rest of your family have my deepest condolences and you all are in my prayers. Words can not express how bad I feel about your loss. I am sure that Kevin is with God, and though the world is a little dimmer without Kevin in it, heaven has gained a star. Again, my heart goes out to all, who like me, will miss Kevin. I will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers. God bless all of you, Kim Gerstenberger

I have never had the opportunity to meet Kevin, but as a friend of Jim McKay’s, I have been praying for God’s hand of guidance for more than one year. Guidance regarding both the medical professionals as well as family members as to how best to proceed and process what was occurring. Over the past year, I have learned how well loved and respected Kevin was both by his work colleagues as well as his church family and his extended family. I have learned about his great character and big heart as well as his love for the Washington Redskins Football Team.
Please accept my sincerest condolences on the passing of Kevin. I believe he will always be remembered as a hardworking, honest, and respectable man, as well as a great father. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I will always remember Kevin as a gentleman, whether advocating for his clients, discussing politics, or just having a pleasant conversation. My interactions with Kevin were mostly while he was still practicing law in Shiawassee County. I had the opportunity to visit briefly with him in more recent years on occasions when he would attend a church service at GracePointe Wesleyan Church in Owosso while visiting his parents and his aunt and uncle. He always remained the same person over the years, despite the health issues he was battling. He was always gracious, friendly, and insightful. It was always apparent he loved the Lord and he loved his family. It was also apparent his family loved him. I would sometimes get updates about how Kevin was doing from his Dad, Jim, if we should happen to talk while at church. However, due to the pandemic, I have not seen or talked to Jim for many months, so it was such a complete shock to me when I heard of Kevin's passing. Just knowing Kevin was out there, bringing his God-shaped influence to his family, his community, and the judicial system in Michigan was comforting. I knew what ever he was doing, whether as attorney, magistrate, or working for the Michigan Judicial Institute, he would always bring integrity with him to a system that affects so many lives in so many ways. He will certainly be missed! However, it is also certainly a blessing to celebrate not only the memory of him in this life, but also the imagery of him in the next life! May God bless everyone of you in Kevin's family with joyous memories of his life shared. Steve Willis.

Kevin McKay was a monthly partner of Grace Explorations mens ministry and a regular attender at our Base Camp events. Now I know why. He was a deeply spiritual man who believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ was Good News for all men. Kevin was always bringing friends and family with him to these events. He cared about others more than himself right until the very end, especially those he loved who would be left behind. We will miss him at Base Camp Nation. Now he is seated at a table where the great tales of God and His people are told. His last words to me were: “I’ll see you soon...” Kevin knew death was only a door to another dimension where life doesn’t end. It just changes into something too wonderful for words. He fought and lived well for others in the field of time. Soon we will join him at the victory feast for all eternity. Goodbye for now, but not forever my friend. - Kevin DeVries

Kevin was always a consistent ray of light and a dear friend in Rotary and the Owosso community. His faith in God directed every step of his path.
I recall as president of Owosso Rotary, I agreed to pay the annual dues of the first member to recite the more lengthy Object of Rotary. Kevin easily accomplished the challenge just for the joy of doing it. He joined in the sequence of excellent Rotary presidents. Always helpful, always serving others, always serving the Lord. You leave a remarkable legacy my friend.

I remember the Sunday School quarter where Kevin decided the senior high Sunday school class should learn to look up the Greek meanings of passages from the New Testament and we spent week after week translating one word at a time. I think it took a month of Sundays to do one verse. I am so thankful that Kevin was a part of my life. His dedication to speaking truth to our teen group was amazing, he didn't water anything down or skip the hard parts of the Bible or of life. It all mattered and he was there even when life was hard on him. I know he was instrumental to Dennis' salvation. Sweet Julie and family I know God's grace and goodness will cover you until you are with him again. Your family and lives will always have a special part of my heart.

I met Kevin at Kentwood Community Church through a marriage enrichment class he / Julie were teaching. COVID hit in the first two weeks but a small group of us continued to meet weekly by Zoom all through summer. His devotion to Christ and our group was immediately seen by his volunteering to creatively facilitate the class in the midst of a pandemic. My memories of him are many but I remember him one day making fun of me about wearing cycling shorts. He shared a story of a gentleman who had stopped to help him and some friends with a punctured bike tire. He humorously recounted that the skimpy/tight outfit the “Samaritan” was wearing was quite a “ spectacle” for the ladies in his company ... He then turned to me and said “are you one of those types ?!! “ Kevin was very funny, even tempered and exuded the fruits of the Spirit, he was a remarkable individual and even though he goes to be with the Lord, I will miss him greatly. He was a good human being and a great man of God! My heart bleeds for Julie and the family, for their loss is massive. My prayer is that the God of comfort will console Julie and family. My assurance is that we will see Kevin again....so long my good friend!

We know not the number of our days, but I know my days have been forever blessed to have known Kevin McKay. He has left us way too soon, but he has made an indelible mark on the lives he touched. And as Kevin would tell us, " Have faith and celebrate. This is not good bye forever, but rather so long for a while!" In the meantime; we will miss him & his wonderful devotion to his faith and living life in a very positive way. "Love ya man!"
