Jadene Andrea Johnson

It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of Jadene Andrea Johnson (Gibbs) a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend who passed on August 27, 2023 at her residence in Lansing, Michigan. Jadene was born on September 30, 1966 in Kingston, Jamaica to parents Lloyd Gibbs and Beverley Barrett.

Jadene was preceded in death by her grandparents Vera Amanda Barrett, Edgar Barrett, and Wilbert Gibbs.

Jadene met Antoine Johnson in 1993 and their unbreakable bond led them to marriage on September 26, 1998 at Trinity AME Church in Lansing, Michigan. During their 30 beautiful years together the couple raised five children A’Quesius Byrd, La’Tia Byrd, Kenan Johnson, Jamilia Johnson and Jillian Johnson. She was blessed with a son-in-law, Carl Miller, and daughter-in-law, Amanda Johnson, as well as two adorable grandchildren, Maddox Joseph-Shawn Johnson and Madilyn Andrea-Rose Johnson, who she adored dearly.

Jadene had a great relationship with her stepfather, Hervin Uter and sister Rosalie Dunbar as well as close friends Angela Westbrooks and Viola Manns. Throughout her many years at WalMart and Tendercare, Jadene’s compassionate and caring personality led to her developing strong and lasting relationships with several coworkers, customers and residents.

Jadene was educated at Lansing Community College where she acquired multiple certificates in medical billing/coding and nursing. Jadene truly loved helping others no matter who they were. She had a long career in helping others which included Walmart for 19 years, serving as a Home Health Aide for 10 years and CNA for 13 years.

Jadene was a kind hearted soul who was always willing to help anyone before helping herself. Her beauty radiated from the inside out; she loved to laugh, make others laugh, and was very family oriented. Her family meant everything to her and she found joy in their milestones and celebrating with them. Jadene was known for her smile, compassion and great advice. Her hobbies included collecting figurines, spending quality time with her children & grandchildren as well as traveling.

A memorial service will be held on September 5th at 11:00 am at the Mayflower Congregational Church located on West Mount Hope Avenue in Lansing Michigan to celebrate the life of Jadene Andrea Johnson (Gibbs).
