Our beloved Jaime Garcia, 54, passed suddenly on Wednesday, November 6th, in the comfort of his home. Since his birth on October 2nd, 1970, Jaime has filled the lives of those around him with an insurmountable amount of love and joy. His presence was a constant source of warmth and happiness, uplifting everyone he encountered. His genuine kindness and infectious enthusiasm left a lasting impact, creating cherished memories and spreading positivity wherever he went.
Jaime was born to Dubelza and Noel Sr. Garcia in the small town of Lansing, Michigan. When reminiscing of their childhood, Noel Jr. (older brother) recalled fond memories when both brothers and their older sister (Liz Hilts) would brave the Michigan winters to deliver papers on Sundays. He treasures the times he would pull Jaime back home on their sled after a hard day's work. Liz remembers the special bond Jaime shared with their mother and how that bond only strengthened over time as he transitioned from the family’s baby to loving caregiver for his adored parents.
With the arrival of his nieces and nephews (Marisa, Stephanie, and Andy from his sister Liz, and Gerrit and Austin from his brother Noel Jr.) , Jaime’s commitment to family and the undying love he shared for them all only grew. Marisa reflects on how Jaime showed his love through gifts; he’d always make sure their bellies were full with the best food even well into their adult years and was quick to gift any trinket or present that made him think of them. Stephanie recalls how very recently Jaime gifted her an old Disney room key because he remembered how when she was little, she had an obsession with collecting them. Andy remembers how Jaime gifted him his time, teaching him the art of a good prank call to his none-the-wiser middle school friends. His nieces and nephews will cherish how Uncle Jaime would brighten their days with his jokes, laughter, and love. He had a unique way of making every moment special, whether through his infectious sense of humor or the warmth of his hugs. His presence brought joy and comfort, creating memories that they will hold dear for a lifetime.
Jaime was a dedicated worker, devoting years to DHL, Maurers, X-Tax, and then Hilts Printing Innovations, working for his family’s printing business for the last six months of his life. His team members at HPI mourn his loss with heavy hearts, remembering their cherished colleague who always took the time to show he cared. He thoughtfully gifted them apparel and backpacks themed after their favorite characters, leaving a lasting impression of his kindness and attention to detail. Jaime was quick to crack a joke or cheer on his peers if it meant getting his team through even the toughest days. He often expressed how blessed he felt to be part of such an incredible team. His team hopes he can rest knowing he will be truly missed and that, even though they only knew him for a short time, he changed their lives for the better.
Though Jaime left this world too soon, his memory and enduring love continue to empower the lives he touched, inspiring them to embrace life, family, and friendship with the same passion he showed every day. Jaime is survived by his loving father, Noel Sr.; brother and sister, Noel Jr. and Liz (husband Bob Hilts); nieces and nephews, Marisa (husband Price Schmidtmann), Stephanie, Andy, Austin, and Gerrit, and many cherished cousins, aunts, and uncles.
A visitation with a funeral service to follow is scheduled for Sunday November 10 at 1:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing Michigan 48912. Jaime’s family welcomes anyone who wishes to pay their respects to his memory.
