Age 86, our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went home to his Lord on May 9, 2014. Born April 3, 1928 in Ionia, MI. James served in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1987 from General Motors Skilled Trades after 38 years of services and was a member of U.A.W. Local #652. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Ionia Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing the saxophone, golfing, horse racing and casinos. James' family was his life.
Surviving are his 7 children, Tim (Sheri) Hooper, Sue Kiter, Cathy (Robert) Wade, Kirk (Sue) Hoop er, Terri (Jim) Benjamin, Nancy Nastally, and David (Tracy) Hooper; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; 3 brothers, His twin, George (Nancy), Gary, and Forrest Hooper; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. James was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Rosalie in 2002; son-in-law, Dave Kiter, and his parents Glenn & Alyce Hooper.
Visitation is from 2-4, 6-8 P.M. Monday with a 7:00 P.M. Vigil Service in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Liturgy is 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 13, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 3815 S. Cedar, Lansing with Fr. George Daisy presiding. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Tuesday at church.
