James "Papa" Edward Luttrell

Papa has prepared all his life to come into the presence of Jesus. He peacefully left his earthly home to move into his mansion on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Papa was surrounded by his loving family.

Papa is rejoicing in Heaven with those that went before; most recently, his loving wife, Mary; and 3 sons, Mike, Steve, and Alan.

His legacy will live on through those he left behind. Papa never met a stranger; he truly loved everyone. Children from birth-100 years old loved him too and he cherished every memory he ever made with anyone.

Papa’s presence will be missed by so many friends and relatives. His many nieces and nephews will hold a special place in their hearts for the memories they were able to make with him.

His love, compassion, patience, fun and wisdom are just a few of the virtues that he has passed on to those that love him most; Sister- Elizabeth Shuck Jory, Brother- Reverend Tom Luttrell (Mary Lou), Sister- Norma Miller, Children- Sharon, Cindy, and Rhonda, 11 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren- Serenity, Naomi, Atreus, Paisley, and Lydia.

We will miss you, Papa.

A memorial visitation for James will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912. A memorial service will occur Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Central Free Methodist Church (livestream at https://youtu.be/ApoC_BtWr0A ), 828 N Washington Ave, Lansing, MI 48906, with a one-hour visitation prior from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Following the service there will be a luncheon at church.

In James' memory contributions can be made in his name to Central Free Methodist Church to open a new gathering place for the young people of Lansing. Online contributions can be made at https://lcfmc.churchcenter.com/giving and choose 820 Lower Level New Vision.
