While attending MSU, he met Myrna Kleis and they married on September 20, 1963.
After working for the audio visual departments at MSU and LCC, he joined the engineering lab at Oldsmobile in 1964. He loved the challenges of developing and running tests on cars. He loved audio recording and in the 1960s was proud to have recordings running on most major radio stations in the area. Over the years, he also joined with friends of similar interest and was involved in designing the sound systems for 2 or more churches in the area. He also was a avid photographer and took not only family snapshots but did wedding photos for friends.
Jim and Myrna raised their 3 children, Edward Russell Miller, Jean Marie (Scott) Parks and Thomas James Miller. He loved making memories with his children and grandchildren. He had 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He and his wife were licensed foster parents for 10 years and they learned many profound life lessons from the children in their home. Jim took seriously the Biblical instructions to 'let the children come' and also that 'we must become like children.'
He joined the Bretton Woods Covenant church in 1967 and enjoyed endless hours in the fellowship of his church family.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at Bretton Woods Covenant at 925 Bretton Road on Saturday June 8th. Services will begin at 2 pm and will be followed by dinner served by the Covenant Women assisted by the men of the church.
In lieu of flowers Jim would request that each one remember to share kindness with all those persons they encounter and to receive the blessings of life with joy and gratitude.
