

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rose Miner; brother, Tom; and his beloved wife of 47 years, Carol Miner. Together, he and Carol built a life filled with family, hard work, and countless memories. He was a loving father to Paul Miner (wife Erica), Tim Miner (Jen Holleman), Matt Miner (wife Monika), and Erin Schueler (husband Jack). He was a proud grandfather to Amanda Cook, Lukas Miner, Riley Miner, Brandon Miner, Tyler Miner, and Jackson Schueler.
Jim is survived by his sisters, Mary and Linda; brother, Kip; and dear friend, Marlene Soderstrom.
Jim began his education at Maryknoll Seminary and went on to earn advanced degrees at Aquinas College. His passion for education and service led to a 38-year career in Catholic education with the Diocese of Lansing and Kalamazoo, where he served as a teacher, administrator, and mentor to many.
Jim was a man of deep faith who gave generously of his time and talents. He traveled to New Orleans to help rebuild after the hurricanes and served on mission trips to Haiti, always guided by his commitment to helping others. His dedication to Catholic education was a lifelong passion, shaping the lives of countless students and families. His family was always paramount in his life and his greatest joy was celebrating in the life of all his grandchildren with his beloved wife Carol.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 am at St. Therese Catholic Church in Lansing, Michigan on Friday, August 8th with a Memorial Mass to be held at 11:00 am and a luncheon to follow, Father Jim McDougall presiding.
