Born on November 25, 1935, she grew up in Michigan after being adopted at a young age, an experience that helped shape her deep compassion, strength, and love for others.
Jane was a proud graduate of Michigan State University, where she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in education. She devoted her career to teaching high school students, sharing her intelligence, wit, and warmth with every classroom she entered.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jeff Fast, Jim Fast (Lynn Fast), and Janet Killingsworth; her grandchildren, Jimmy Killingsworth, Jordan Killingsworth (Maryam Burney), Jade Smith (Joshua Smith), Jared Killingsworth (Teegan Bailey), Leah Warner (Cameron Warner), Alex Fast (Breanna Fast), Jane Fast, Joelle Fast, and Jillian Fast; and her great-grandchildren, Adalind Smith, Asher Smith, Denver Warner, Sawyer Jager, and a baby boy expected this November.
Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Fast; her mother, Avah Carpenter; and her father, Clarence Carpenter.
She was an active volunteer with Respite Volunteers of Shiawassee and a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Morrice. Known for her love of frogs, collecting everything from stuffed animals to garden statues, Jane filled her home with laughter, stories, and a heart big enough to welcome anyone. She loved reading to her grandchildren, watching and feeding the birds from her window, and was always ready with a joke, a hug, or an honest word when it was needed.
A private memorial service for close family will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jane's honor to:
