Born on October 17, 1960, in Lansing, Janine was the beloved daughter of Ruth Holland and the late Norval Holland. She grew up in Lansing and graduated from Sexton High School. She continued her education at Lansing Community College, taking accounting courses that led to a dedicated career with a company contracted by the State of Michigan Department of Treasury. Through hard work and commitment, Janine advanced from a customer service representative to managing a team of employees, eventually becoming a system administrator.
Janine raised her two daughters, Alyssa and Devon, in East Lansing, later moving back near the neighborhood where she grew up. She considered motherhood her greatest accomplishment and was deeply devoted to her children and her grandson, Henrik Rambo.
She held a deep appreciation for her local church, Northpointe Community Church. Janine respected and valued all people, regardless of their walk in life. A sensitive and loving soul, she had a passion for drawing from a young age and was a proud donor to the ASPCA. She was an avid reader, often found on her swing under the trees with a novel in hand, finding peace and quiet joy in nature. She was known for her hard work, her caring nature, and her philosophy that “you’re either early or you’re late.”
Janine is survived by her daughters, Alyssa Mocny (Lee) and Devon Rambo (Zack); her grandson, Henrik Rambo; her mother, Ruth Holland; and her siblings Kay Lynn Holman (Michael), Robert Cottom (Pam), Patricia Dunn (Thomas), Gary Holland , Jeffrey Holland (Joanne). She was preceded in death by her father, Norval Holland, and her sister, Debra Riley.
Her family will remember her as a woman of kindness, humility, and strength who adored her family above all else.
A visitation for Janine will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912.
