Jay Joe Ball, age 55, of Lansing, Michigan passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Jay was born on October 14, 1966 in Charlotte, Michigan. He was a big, loud, call-it-like-he-sees-it kinda guy, loved life, kids and animals. Gruff exterior, but a heart of gold. Big laugh that made you want to laugh along. Family-oriented. Incorrigible. Jokester. Momma’s boy. He always had a twinkle in his eye. You never knew what was coming out of his mouth next, but he always had a kind word and a bear hug for those he loved. He would argue any point at any time just because he liked the challenge. He loved this country, and he was a patriot. You could count on him if ever you needed him. He loved riding motorcycles with his friends and children, fishing, hunting, and listening to music from almost every genre. His favorite things to do were to spend time with family and spoil his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda Ball; his children Andrea (Charles) Feuss, Sean Ball, Ashley Ball, Anthony Quarles (Ashly), Melinda Tetreau, Christopher Quarles (Amber Denney), Sharayah Ball, Desiree Ball (Brandon Hoppe), Jay Ball Jr. (Tiffany Shelton); parents D.Ann (Dan) Knapp, David (Nedra) Ball; bonus children Timothy Belen, Clinton Thomas; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, William “Willy” (Merlen) Snider, Steve Snider, Kathleen (Dale) Womble, Nevada Snider, Anita Snider, John DuBois, Samm (Quinn) Smith, Bill (Traci) Ball, Krissy McIntyre, Kevin Peterson, Kurt Peterson, Yvette Snider, Jason Snider, Samantha Little, Kate (Ian) Parker, Darrin (Michelle) Ball, Dawn (Kelvin) Platt, David (Nichole) Ball, Tad Mullins, Sheri Pruitt, and Shelley Brooks; and many, many nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his birth mother, Thelma Musser; sisters, Sue Collins and Irene Snider; brother, Brian “Tommy” Snider; aunt, Bonita (Gerald) Babcock; grandparents, Jack and Margaret Snider; and cousin, Larry Belt.
A celebration of Jay's life will be held at a later date.
