Jean graduated from J.W. Sexton High School, where she met her husband, Warren, while both playing in the orchestra. They were married for 62 years. As a homemaker, raising five children was a full-time job that she cherished and excelled in. She was very involved in her children's lives, active in the PTA, class-room mother, and made the best cookies/cupcakes for the school bake sales. She loved her husband and
family, demonstrating that love with her patience, devotion, and kindness. As a grandmother she hosted cousins camp annually so that the next generation of family could spend time together and she could relish in the love that only grandchildren can provide.
Jean's artistic talents were abundant. She painted beautiful pictures, made hand-drawn greeting cards, sewed many costumes and clothing for her children, including wedding dresses for her three daughters. She had an eye for beauty and shared her many talents.
She was very involved in her church, singing in the choir, with her husband, at Christ United Methodist Church in Lansing and University United Methodist Church in East Lansing. She was a member of the United Methodist Women. She also volunteered at the Southside Community Kitchen.
Jean and Warren traveled many places to visit family and friends including England, Spain, and their yearly trip to Florida to visit their son and his family.
During her golden years, she took up the game of golf and spent many happy days on the greens enjoying time with others and making many lasting memories.
Faith, Family, and Friends were the treasures that Jean held closest to her heart.
Jean is survived by her children, Kriste (Joseph) Hundt, Randall (Patricia) Roost, Kathlyn (Rock) Sellers, Lori (Michael) Carr, and Michael (Tiffany) Roost; 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Susan) Allen. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Warren Roost, parents Lois and Elwyn Allen, brother William Allen, sisters Jane Lorenz and Joan Buckborough and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Monday April 29th at 1 pm at University United Methodist Church, 1120 S. Harrison Rd., East Lansing, MI. Light refreshments will be served in the fellowship room at the church immediately following the service.
