

He was preceded in death by his parents and Ruth M (Brotz) Brower.
John was a Graduate of Lakeview HS in Battle Creek, and Michigan Tech University with a degree in Civil Engineering before joining the military.
John served our country by joining the Air Force (Air Reserves/Air National Guard) where he served as Navigator on a B-57 Canberra, and served as a Captain. After the Air Force John joined the Army National Guard, Department of Military Affairs, and was a Staff Sergeant. He retired from the military as a Captain.
John also worked for the Michigan Highway Department, then as facilities manager at Lansing's National Guard Armory, and later with the State of Michigan Department of Military Affairs, as a Civil Engineer where he retired.
He was a long time member of The American Legion, Forty et Eight, Elks, Moose, and Eagles.
He enjoyed camping with family, spending many summers up in Northern Michigan. He was on many golf and bowling teams with many friends over the years.
John never met a stranger, he would talk with anyone and everyone, always had a joke or story to tell. He loved his Children and Grandchildren, and shared stories of their accomplishments that showed how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. He cared about his family and friends, and was always asking “how’s your mother/dad/kids/pet/etc.”
John is survived by his children; Vicki (Eric) Salsbury, Teresa (Michael) Motz II, Jeff (Sheree) Brower, John Brower II; Grandchildren, Nathan, Emily, and Allison Salsbury, Madeline (Matt) Mireles, Seth Motz, Olivia and Isabelle Brower; siblings, Jerry Brower, Judith Brower, Jeanne (Gary) Thomas. John leaves behind many other grieving family and friends - cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, classmates, neighbors, golf and bowling league buddies, fraternal order club friends (Moose, Elks, Eagles, American Legion), co-workers, and many others he’s known, over all of his years.
A funeral service for John will be held Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
A committal service will occur Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 1:00 PM at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI 49012.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be given in memorial to any of the fraternal orders you had been in with John, or to support the Golf or Bowling leagues you had participated with John in.
