The Life Remembered: A heart of gold. A lifetime of love.
John Anthony Farmer, affectionately known as “Anthony” and “Farmer,” was born October 23, 1985, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, to his loving mother, Betty Monique Farmer. He was raised with the unwavering love, guidance, and support of his mother and father, Louis Edward Jones.
On October 16, 2026, Anthony departed this earthly life at the age of 40, leaving treasured memories and a love that will never be forgotten.
A Heart of Gold: Anthony was loving, generous, and dependable. He would give his last dollar or the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His mother was his best friend, and his family meant everything to him. He graduated from Everett High School in Lansing, where he played varsity football. He loved Mexican food, cheering for the Detroit Lions and Detroit Pistons, and the simple joys of spending time with people he loved. Anthony proudly called himself “the best professional poker player.” A natural “Great Debater,” he had a quick wit, a wonderful sense of humor, and a way of making ordinary conversations unforgettable.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Carlos Zachary Farmer and beloved grandparents Elmore Reggie Canty and George Reid, as well as Martin (Verna Harris) Jones.
His kindness, laughter, and spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
Family and Loved Ones: Anthony shared an extraordinary bond with his mother, Betty Monique Farmer, his best friend. He was raised with the love and guidance of his mother and father, Louis Edward Jones.
He leaves cherished memories with his siblings: Amy (Troy) Webb; Jessica Jones (Martin Smith); Brandon Jones (Brother); and his grandmother, Betty Rhea Reid.
Special Friends: Anthony also shared special bonds with Robert Campbell (AKA Jr.), Dwayne Lilly, Eric Lilly, and Adam Psenski, and was a loving uncle to their children.
Additional Family: Anthony also shared family ties with Ricky Lee Turner Sr., along with Sherry Williams, Ricky (Elijah) Lee Turner Jr., Kathy Lenora Fair, Vickie Lee Turner, and Shalon Turner.
As much as we would like to acknowledge every aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, and cousin individually by name, our family is beautifully large and blessed, with simply too many loved ones to name. Please know that each and every one of you held a special place in Anthony’s heart.
Whether connected by blood, marriage, or love, you were all part of his life and his story. The absence of a name will never mean the absence of love.
Our family sincerely thanks everyone for your prayers, love, kindness, meals, and support during this difficult time.
“We love because He first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19
