John was born in Howell, MI on July 11, 1960 and raised in Lansing, MI.
John was preceded in passing by his parents; John Haviland and Irene Greer, and his siblings; Ernest and Robert Haviland.
John is survived by his son; Ira Haviland, his siblings; Theresa, Cyndee, Sally, and Charles, his ex-wife; Theresa Haviland, and many nieces and nephews.
John worked as a cook at Advent house feeding the homeless. He loved his job and the people he worked with. His coworkers held a special place in his heart.
John was always willing to help anyone no matter what the task was. Charles would like to add that he was more like a father figure to him than a brother.
The family would like to add a special thank you to his friends Mike Vernon and Dave Jones for always being by his side.
John was very well loved by the community he lived in. He will be greatly missed by all.
