Joe was born July 24,1950 in East Lansing. He graduated from East Lansing High School in 1969. Joe went into the US Army in 1970 where he served in Germany in the Armored Division. His high school work study experience led to a career in food service.
Joe became a beloved fixture at Macs Bar where he worked. His fondness for music of the 60’s and 70’s made him a welcome asset to bands that played there. He was an enthusiastic MSU fan, and loved football and baseball statistics. Joe could often be seen riding his bicycle from Lansing to Okemos. His ability to share creature comforts extended to animals and he was never without at least one cat. Joe made friends easily and remained lifelong friends with people he met in high school. He was proud to be part of the Lansing and East Lansing community and will be greatly missed.
Joe was the second of three children born to John H. Burton, and Margeret V. (Hill) Burton. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, John H. Burton Jr. He is survived by his sister, Gale Louise (Burton) Musolf; nieces, Kim, Laura, Melissa Megan, and Mallory and several grandnieces and nephews, and beloved cat, Henry.
