Galvan on July 2, 1938.
He was raised in a family of 16 children
(nine girls and seven boys). He was child number 15 and has one
surviving brother, Refugio Galvan, Jr. He married Barbara Jean Harrison on January 16, 1959, who
preceded him in death.
He is survived by his only child, Cheryl
(Galvan) Roszman. He is also survived by his main caretaker. Audrey Sabrina Salazar, a
very special niece whom he considered his daughter.
He had six grandchildren: Choma Galvan, Joseph Pearson,
Benjamin Pearson- Roszman, Obadiah Roszman, Jaima (Roszman)
Mathey, Franchesca (Chella) Zavala, and six great-grandchildren:
Solomon Roszman, Leviticus Roszman, Ava Roszman, Carlos
Salazar Zavala, Josiah Zavala, Romeo Zavala.
From a very young age, his brothers taught him
to become a skilled concrete finisher. This career spanned more that
six decades. He laid concrete all over the state of Michigan and in
various parts of the country. While teaching the younger workers on
the job he could be heard saying: “I’m from the old school and I
built the road that goes to it,” and, “I’ve taken home more concrete
on my boots than most guys have laid in their entire life."
He was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and
great-grandfather. He was also everyone’s friend, a fact shown by all
in the neighborhood affectionately calling him “Uncle Joe."
He was a generous, free spirited soul who enjoyed spending time
with his family. His greatest passion was playing one of his many
guitars.
He never liked saying, “goodbye," it was always, “see you later.”
And so it is, "We will see you Later." Acts.15:24
