Josephine passed away June 27, 2012, after a long courageous fight against Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 92. Josephine was born in Lansing on October 6, 1919 to Burt and Laverna (Seaton) Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper L. Freeman; and her son, Dennis Freeman. She leaves behind four sons, Gary (Sherry) Freeman, Allen (Helen) Freeman, Bruce (Linda) Freeman and Michael (Sue) Freeman; eleven grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Josephine was baptized a Jehovah Witness and remained steadfast to her belief until the end. She was an avid gardener, homemaker and floral designer. She won recognition from the City of Lansing for her landscape and floral layouts. Josephine was a lifetime resident of Lansing and the last surviving matriarch of the West Maple Street era, dating back to the early 1900’s. Funeral arrangements by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI. A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM and on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM and 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home. There will be a private interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, those desiring, may make contributions to Whitehills Care Center, 1843 N. Hagadorn Rd., E.
