Lt. Col. Kenneth E. Donovan Jr. was born April 15, 1948, and died September 2, 2026, at the age of 78. A resident of East Lansing, Michigan, Kenneth served his country with distinction as an Army Helicopter Pilot and retired from the United States Army as a Lt. Col. His life reflected steadfast devotion—marked by duty, discipline, and a deep commitment to those he loved and to the nation he served.
Kenneth’s military service was recognized through numerous honors, including the Distinguished Flying Cross (1st OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (1st OLC), Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (3rd), and the Purple Heart. These decorations stand as enduring testimony to a career defined by courage, sacrifice, and professionalism.
Above all, Kenneth was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 35 years of marriage with his wife, Cheryl. He is also survived by his step-children, Camille Brochu, Jason La Fay, and Stefany La Fay, and by his grandchildren, Kruz Brochu and Stefon Smith.
Visitation will be held at Gorsline-Runciman Tiffany Chapel, 3232 West Saginaw Street, Lansing, MI 48917, on September 16, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service followed by Remembrance Sharing will take place at Gorsline-Runciman Tiffany Chapel on September 16, 2026, beginning at 6:00 pm.
Inurnment with Military Honors will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442, on September 17, 2026, at 1:30 pm (Please arrive at 1:15 pm).
