

The Lord reached down and took Lavan out of his pain and suffering, Tuesday March 24, 2015 at age 90. He was born November 23, 1924 in Charlotte, Michigan, to Howard and Frances (Mosher) Wilson. Lavan graduated from Holt High School in 1942. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II, on the USS Rockaway, USS Charger. He retired 1978 from Fisher Body Material Department with 30 years of service. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene 1929-1975, Woodview 1975-1980, Highland Park 1980-2006, and most recently, First Church. He taught Sunday School Class, and was a Head Usher, Sunday School Bus Driver, and Board Member. He lived in Lakeland, Florida for 26 years. He liked cars, traveling, playing hand and foot, and loved being with family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; wives, Gladys and Hariette; daughter, Nancy Dodes; sister, LaVerne Spicer. He is survived by his wife Beverly, of 39 years; son, Douglas; step sons, Gerald and Keith Smith; son-in-law, David Dodes; sister, Marian Tuttle; brother, Robert (Nanette) Wilson; 2 grandchildren, Anthony (Aimee) Wilson, Valerie (Eric) Cochrane; 5 great grandchildren, Cameron, Bredon Wilson, Morgan, Isaac, Sydney Cochrane. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00am at Lansing First Church of the Nazarene, 310 Elmwood Dr., Lansing, MI, with visitation one hour prior. Military Honors will be accorded at that time. Memorial Contributions may be made in Lavan’s honor to First Church of the Nazarene or Stoneleigh Residence, 3411 Stoneleigh Dr., Lansing, MI.
