Lawrence O. Wells, age 69, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021 in Lansing, Michigan. He was born September 9, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lawrence A. and Sally (Thorngate) Wells. He attended MSU for his undergraduate degree. Once he graduated, Lawrence went on to law school at Wayne State University and was admitted to the Michigan State Bar Association. He continued his education with his MBA at Western Michigan University.
After working as a lawyer in private practice, Lary moved to Lansing and worked for the Michigan League for Public Policy for 25 years, eventually serving as the COO of the non-profit. Lary sat on and led several Lansing areal nonprofit boards while at the League. His passion was for teaching others, and he loved his work as an evening accounting professor for numerous higher education institutions. He used his accounting and math skills to serve as the treasurer for his church, the First Assembly of God of Greater Lansing, where he and his wife attended faithfully since they moved to Lansing in 1990.
Lary loved spending time with his family, and his grandchildren were the light of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Lary will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy (Solomon) Wells; his sons, Rob (Diane) and Casey (Amber) Wells; his grandchildren, Henry, Clara, Evelyn, Bruce, Wyatt, and Wynton Wells; his mother Sally (Thorngate) Wells; his brothers, Ben (Nancy Stark), Randy (Sandy), and Charlie (Marga) Wells; his sisters, Dorothy (Craig) Farrell and Paula Slack, and his sisters-in-law, Ruth Solomon and Becca Solomon.
Memorial Services will take place on Saturday, May 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God of Greater Lansing, 2717 West Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823.
