Leona Lee Hall was born on March 26, 1922 in Carson City, MI. She passed away to join her Lord and Savior on September 3, 2014 at Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte, MI at the age of 92. Leona was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning tomatoes, ceramics, playing cards, and traveling. She enjoyed trips to California and Florida to visit family and friends. She liked the Hawaiian Islands so much that she traveled there 5 times. But most of all, she loved her family. On Palm Sunday 1956 she was confirmed and made a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church. She joined the Ladies Aid Society (now named Mary Martha Soc.) and willingly did all she could do for her church. Leona worked for several trucking companies as a billing clerk from 1955 to 1977. In 1977, she went to work for the State of MI, in what was then called “The Unemployment Office”. She calculated the wages to be paid and typed the benefit checks. In 1990, she decided to retire, but stayed close to the friends she made at work by going to lunch or dinner with them. Leona was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Thomas Fishburn, Her beloved husband Franklin “Rocky” on June 21, 1988. She is survived by her daughter Daune (John) Martis; two sisters Tressa Linder and Bonnie Kelly; one Sister-in-Law Eileen Zander, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Septemeber 9, 2014 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912 with Rev. Michael C. Bater officiating. Interment will follow at Crystal Twp. Cemetery in Crystal, MI. The family will receive friends, Monday, 6-8 pm at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, 4001 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Lansing, MI 48910. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel.
